The Seventh Annual Session of Sri Lanka Model United Nations for the year 2014 will be held from the 8th to the 10th of September at Water’s Edge, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Model United Nations is registered under the Education Outreach Program of the United Nations. It is endorsed by the Ministry of Education of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Sri Lanka.
Having been successfully organized for nine consecutive years (S-SAARC (2005 - 2007) and SLMUN (2008 - 2013)), SLMUN is a platform that attracts 1000 to 1250 students, between the ages of 13 and 20 years from all over Sri Lanka, as well as from other parts of the world. Since its Inception, SLMUN has aimed to recreate the spirited diplomacy practiced within the United Nations, to provide future leaders with a chance to voice out their opinions regarding various issues that encompass the globe, while exercising and cultivating their skills in leadership and diplomacy in an environment that is conducive of the diplomatic practices found at the highest level of statesmanship .
Being Asia’s largest student run simulation of the United Nation, our 10th conference and 7th session of SLMUN hopes to inculcate in delegates the need for change, while encouraging and guiding them to take the first step towards a more promising tomorrow as diplomats of a global community.
